This week marks an important anniversary for Funjet Vacations–for 39 years, they have worked with travel agents to provide unforgettable vacation experiences to millions of customers.
Since they opened their doors, a lot has changed in the travel industry. Other competitors are now owned by an airline, online travel agency, competing retail travel agencies, and invested in by a venture capitalist firm. Funjet Vacations remains the only large scale tour operator that is still owned and operated by the family that founded the business. Click the logo to price and book a complete vacation online!

David Wilkening of Travel Mole recently reported on a survey that proves what many have assumed for some time: free hotel Wi-Fi is at the top of the list when guests choose where they will stay.
Thirty-eight percent of travelers reported that free Wi-Fi played a part in their decision as a “must” to stay at a specific hotel, while 35 percent reported it is the simple amenity they want to see more in hotels. Another 31 percent say they wish it would become a standard in all hotels. “Given the explosion of mobile use in the past few years, it is no surprise that travelers are requiring free and fast Wi-Fi,” said Taylor L. Cole, APR, director of public relations and social media for Hotels.com. He added: “Many guests never travel without their tablets, smartphones and laptops. It’s as intuitive as packing a toothbrush.”

I have been working on my own “free Wi-Fi list”–remember, this is a continual work in progress that I hope to update frequently.

I recently had the opportunity to participate in a training webinar on the all new Tropicana in Las Vegas. This resort recently underwent $180 million in renovations, reviving one of the crown jewels of the Strip. This legendary landmark is located on the famed “Four Corners” of the Las Vegas Strip and Tropicana, offering guests stunning views of the strip. This is a great location, across the street from MGM Grand, New York New York, and the Excalibur.
It may be best known for its legendary entertainment, but the Tropicana Resort and Casino also deserves a nod for its stunning and affordable accommodations. The property features 1,658 well-appointed, best-in-class guest rooms and suites in its two towers and exterior garden rooms, including theme, Jacuzzi and super suites. Resort amenities include an extravagant five acres of lush, tropical landscaping with pools, waterfalls, lagoons and even swim-up blackjack tables, a buzzy casino floor, and of course, amazing entertainment.
The historic property is currently transforming itself into a vibrant, South Beach, Miami themed escape. The revitalized Tropicana Las Vegas will feature a fresh resort atmosphere, bright tropical colors, and a sizzling nightlife scene. Renovations have included the redesign of every hotel room and suite, the casino, the world-famous pool area, several new restaurants, bars, a new poker room, a new race and sports book, and nightclub.

The Tropicana’s new $5 million Glow spa, a Mandara Spa, opened the first week of November. It features two couples’ villas, treatment rooms, hair and nail salon, relaxation lounge, men’s and women’s lockers, fitness center, and a spa menu with over 50 treatments.
Also new is their club, the RPM Nightclub, which will open New Year’s Eve Weekend and from then on will be open Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 10:30 p.m. The nightclub will feature hot stars and top recording artists as well as a variety of DJs, dancers and specialty acts. In addition to bottle service and three bars, the 16,500 square foot venue offers table games and roulette.
The Flamingo is a moderately-priced Vegas resort in a great location with a great pool. Also, the Flamingo is right next door to the Margaritaville Restaurant.
